Below are answers to some frequently asked questions:

  1. Is tree trimming necessary for my property?

Yes. If a tree is located within Rockwood Electric Utility’s (REU) electrical right-of-way, it must be trimmed to maintain safe clearance.

    • Single-phase lines require a total clearance of 20 feet (10 feet on each side).
    • Three-phase lines require a total clearance of 40 feet (20 feet on each side).

  2. Will debris be removed after trimming?

Yes. Rockwood Electric Utility and its contractors will not leave behind any tree trimmings, limbs, or debris resulting from our work.

We understand that trees are important to our customers. However, it’s important to note that trees are a leading cause of power outages in our service area. To ensure reliable electric service, REU must regularly maintain and protect its infrastructure within the designated right-of-way.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as our contractors carry out this essential maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
